The unprecedented seizure of a phosphate cargo vessel, the Cherry Blossom”, by South African authorities after an unscheduled stop has come in for harsh criticism by the OCP group, a global leader in fertilizer production.
South African judge had ordered the seizure of the vessel on the basis of a complaint filed before it.
In its decision on 15 June, even while acknowledging the complexity and the international dimensions of the matter, the South African court decided to send the case forward for a judgment on the merits.
