India’s Chemical Industry Minister Sadananda Gowda said his department’s expert board had recommended the opening of a mineral fertiliser plant in Davanger, Karnataka.
“The authorities of karnataka state received a proposal to establish a fertilizer plant. Experts have chosen Davanger because the future plant here can easily access water, gas and transport infrastructure,” he said.
For reliable supply to farmers, a large amount of mineral fertilizer is delivered to the karnataka district centres. Now there is no shortage of them, Sadananda Govda added.
However, such plans have provoked protests from local residents who fear water and air pollution.
